As an author of a puzzle I feel free to refer to my sources as long as someone else disproves them.
And as this particular car has raced in the 1600 class it's at least easily to distinguish from other Martini BMWs. ( ;) like a Martini BMW 700 for example)

I don't think I understand the rationale, but i guess it's not important anymore.
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.
