Solved: 420. by Allemano - Inofficial Wanderer/Porsche Type 8 Project "Urach"

This is a 1931-1932 Wanderer Type 8 streamliner prototype, designed by Porsche. The same basic body style was used for the Porsche/Zundapp Type 12, an early predecessor to the VW Beetle.

Your veeery close, but this particular car is not a Wanderer. It has a different name.
Furthermore I would like to know the name of the coachbuilder.

Some sources call it a Porsche Type 8 but it was constructed under contract to Wanderer. It was built by Porsche.

I'm still not convinced that this is anything other than a Porsche/Wanderer Type 8. I found a profile shot identified as a Wanderer Type 8 on another site and *every* detail is the same - rear skirt, door handles, ventilator door location, front fender skirt detail, door hinges, and so on. I can't seem to upload pictures and I'm not allowed to link here, but I'd be happy to provide reference info.

I have to stay stubborn on this. All the informations you've given are somehow correct, but this car has a different designation.

Let's sum up some facts:

– this car is indeed a Porsche [Nr. 8] development and was temporarily the daily driver of Mr. Porsche himself. The design was made by Porsche's designer Erwin Komenda.

– this car wasn't entirely built by Porsche as the Porsche company didn't exist back then. He founded an office for consulting engineers in Stuttgart 1930. I'm asking for the coachbuilder.

– this car is indeed closely related to Wanderer, but officially never weared the "Wanderer" name. This procect had a certain name!

– two cars were built: one with a streamlined body (the puzzle car) and a second, more conventional designed car which whereabouts is unknown today.

Those background infos are all provided by a book. I strongly believe it's quite reliable...

That is correct, but it's always in the author's discretion to declare a puzzle as solved or not and you're still missing the name it has.
This is the forum of nit-pickers, so don't feel offended please! 

A way to confirm your guesses is to PM the author of the puzzle – in this case me. 


Another more diplomatic idea would be to give you a point as a reward for your hard work and keep it open for other guesses again – of course without your involvement, then!

Reutter is correct. It's a Type 8, but got another project/nick-name.

Chassis with 8 cylinder 3.25 liter motor. Convertible body built by Reutter and used by Porsche as a company car for several years..

Chassis with same engine as Type 8 but intended to have Rootes-type supercharger but this was abandoned. Streamline body by Reutter and used by Ferdinand Porsche as personal car for 4 or 5 years.
