Well, I guess it's an F3? Any Rak connection?

Neither a F3 car nor any Rak connection I'm afraid...

I should have thought about the absence of a very distinctive Wartburg engine exhaust pipe before asking about Rak :)

Europe?

Wait a moment... European is not entirely correct as it was about to race under a not European flag...

McNamara? Hardly, though, but there were Mk1 F.Vees and Mk3 and Mk3B F3's... where is the Mk2?  ::)

So, 'not European flag' is not American?

If that's your question: No! ;D

two clues:
It was built for more advanced racing than Formula 3.
Its name is quite close to a very common high-volume production car.
Probably I gave it away now..

Doubt that

But is it from circa 1964?

It's interesting, though. From the previously given answers I understand that it is a European developed project which was about to race as a non-European... Higher than F3... Hmm..

Yes it was built in Europe by partly European engineers, though the team-owner came from a non-European country.

Regarding the name you are very close, but it's a different car. Locked for you for 24h, respectively till your next reply.

Thanks Allemano but I haven't got much further with this.
I think it's only fair to let Faksta (or anyone else of course) to attempt to solve the puzzle.
I'll also respond again if it remains unsolved.

I'm surprised that woodinsight is stuck as the right answer is only a tiny step away.

Go ahead faksta! :)

That's okay - I was away from my usual sources and couldn't progress further in the time limit.

Scirocco 01 BRM, chassis SP-1-63.

Have to say that from this angle I was in doubt even when I've found quite an amount of pictures of Scirocco-BRM. Always thought it looked more conventional from the rear.

Strange, because that's how I knew it... Probably you want to hear the name of the team? Scirocco Powell Racing or Equipe Scirocco Belge?
Title: Re: Allemano's № 480
Post by: Allemano on November 01, 2010, 11:36:18 AM
The first is the name I was after. I have it listed as Scirocco-Powell with BRM engine from 1963. According to my source four cars were built. The puzzle car seems to be the first one or a prototype as the mag from which I've took the photo dates from 1962.
Meanwhile I've checked the internet and apologize faksta, you might said it correctly. Obviousely it only was named "Scirocco 01".
