Now that I don't know.....

I'm also curious as to how the front wheels work - it looks like they are scraping the arches with the car unladen and the exhaust must be trying to melt them at the same time!

"Very famous the builder is....", as you posted yesterday, led to a Jeffries solution. I was hoping lightning might strike twice.  :-\

It does, it does! Was just kidding! :D

Aaron65

It kind of looks like a Bill Thomas creation...the Cheetah certainly had some E-Type design elements...

Allemano

No, it IS a Jeffries creation.

Aaron65

Oh, well apparently Jeffries built this E-Type with a Chevy small block and trans for a customer, who later wrecked it.  He repaired it but never saw it again--according to the book.

Allemano

Yes, that's what the book reports. I will give Aaron55 and Otto a point.

From what's written above, this car doesn't appear to have a make - you can't say it's a Jaguar any more, the closest appears to be "Conversion by Dean Jeffries of a Jaguar".  Nor does it appear to have a model name - again you can't say that it is still an E-Type, the closest is again "Conversion by Dean Jeffries of an E-Type".

I think the question should have been "What is this one-off car based on and who built it?"

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

Allemano

You're right!  :-\
But let me explain: it's kind of my 'standard' initial post that I – I have to admit – didn't change here..
(What I usually do on each puzzle on which this 'standard' text doesn't fit)
It can happen once or twice when you've posted over 500 puzzles...

On the other hand there was no complaing about it until it was solved. ;)
But be honest: the difference between "Dan Jeffries' Jaguar E-Type conversion" and "Conversion by Dean Jeffries of an E-Type" is to my humble understanding negligible.

BTW: of course I never will ask: what it is this one-off and (...). That would actually reveal to much.
