If this place is in South Africa, but it's not South Africa, how about Lesotho?

Allemano

Not Lesotho, but close to South Africa..

Tom_I

There's only Malawi left, isn't there?  :-\

Allemano

It's not Malawi either.

If I reveal the hidden clue you'll find the car within 5 minutes..
(and I haven't said that much so far, have I?)

woodinsight

Sun City in the former Bhophuthatswana?

Lyle 4600 V-8 from Rhodesia (Swaziland)

#59
:applause: Pal, did you know it before?

Strictly speaking it's the territory of today's Zimbabwe, but this country wasn't already established back then..

No, I have another name for this car and though it's not from Zimbabwe you're somehow in the right area..

pnegyesi

No, I just popped in, looked at the answers and thought, wow, Swaziland is missing :)

Except Swaziland is not Rhodesia and never has been!
The old Northern Rhodesia became Zambia and Southern Rhodesia became Zimbabwe.
Swaziland still exists and is a landlocked country entirely within the borders of South Africa.
However since you got the name of the car you deserve your point!

To finish the geography lesson, Swaziland has borders with South Africa and Mozambique - it's Lesotho that is completely surrounded by South Africa.

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

pnegyesi

OK, so I mixed up my geography, but I found the car eventually :)

Otto Puzzell

Around the horn in (less than) 80 days, but a compelling mystery, regardless.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Is there any more information available on this car?
Who built it (Mr. Lyle I presume), when and any other details?

Allemano

Unfortunately not! I tried to contact the owner of the site, but he didn't reply.

DeAutogids

How do we know it was build in Rhodesia? The only site I found with this reference just states it was raced there??

Allemano

That's indeed a good question!
As I couldn't find any evidence for the origins of this car I presupposed it was built in Rhodesia.
Any other infos are highly appreciated!
