Can you name this car in full for a point? (sorry for the poor photo quality)
-
Fiat 126
-
Very early prototype of Heuliez Pelican? :lmao: Sorry, couldn't resist :D
-
Ha ha ha to both of the above ;D
-
Up to the Experts.
-
I would expect something Italian here...
-
You would expect wrongly!
-
Is Moustacho-man from Portugal?
-
No.
-
Spain then?
-
No.
-
France ?
-
Oui.
-
Heuliez Le Pelican Electric Car France
-
I assume it's a joke, as you can see a conbustion engine. You can even see it is two-stroke.
-
Yes, it's a two stroke, not electric (so therefore not Le Pelican!).
-
Paul Vallée ?
-
No.
-
Allez les Pros...
-
Mobylette?
-
No,
-
From another French make, known for it's mopeds?
-
It is a French make, but not necessarily one associated with mopeds.
-
Bicycles too?
-
No. Sorry!
-
Did the company make it's own engine, or was it bought elsewhere?
-
Out-sourced.
-
The engine looks very much like a Motobecane
-
Two engines were used during production, one of which was a Motobecane.
-
I fear this one may soon be disappearing into The Black Hole, so here is another photo to help prevent this. So, make and model name please.
-
Did the manufacturer make other motor vehicles ?
-
Yes.
-
Arola ?
-
No.

Ladies and gentlemens, here is the wonderful Vitrex Tri 50 ! Shown at the 1978 Paris Motorshow, certificated in 1979 with the brand Marland, but never serially produced. Just one known example !
I've never read about that two engines thing. Just a good ol'Motobécane 99Z under the seat... ;)
And you know what ? The moustached french man you see on the picture was my first boss in motoring press !!
Cheers, Alain !

Bravo CMetisse! At last this one has been solved, as it is the truely wonderful Vitrex Tri-50, which became a Marland model. I thought more than one had been made though, as I've seen a photo of a blue one, as well as this red one here which was featured in a 1980 L'Auto Journal article.
