Looks like some kind of a Standard 8/10 people-carrier or ambulance so will do some digging..

I have this as 1958, but apart from that your reply is spot-on, so well done, you have the point.  Nice photo too which I've not seen before.

Here is an article from 1956 testing the Birch. 1958 is definitely wrong! The Standard chassis was delivered in 1953, the body was completed in 1954 and it was licenced for use as a taxi in 1955! Also included are some more photos which you may find interesting!
