Do you know what this is, including the name of the conversion company, to be awarded a point.

Djetset

An easy Expert point awaits.

Is this a datsun 120Y Bakkie from South Africa?

Djetset

You are on to something.  I will lock this for you for 24 hours for a more accurate model name, plus the name of the conversion company.

mymokke

Lets try this ..... Datsun B120 - some web info says they were badged as 120Y after the 1200 cars were discontinued.
Still trying to nail down who did the safari/bush conversion.

Djetset

I'll keep it with you for another 24hrs.

mymokke

Sorry, I'm getting nowhere on the conversion ...... open to all, I admit to failure.

mymokke

Could this be a conversion by BENBAR of Zambia?

Djetset

mymokke

Is this an African conversion company?

Djetset

mymokke

Is this an Austill Gameviewer conversion?

Djetset

Stick with it Mymoke as it's not that one.

mymokke

One way or another I'll get it ....... Since I'm doing this alphabetically, is the coachbuilder from the 1st half or second half of the alphabet?

pieter

I don't think identifying the maker of the conversion is easy - it could have been any of a number of companies (or even a private conversion); I'll guess (for now) Baillies

mymokke

Is it a Barker conversion from Benoni?

mymokke

While I'm trying things out ....... maybe a TFM from Olifantsfontein?

Djetset

No sorry, none of the above.

pieter

My next guess will be Gerber 4x4 - for the conversion, not the car

Djetset

Well done Pieter, it is a Nissan (Sunny) 1400 Pick-Up converted by Safari Conversions, for that exact purpose.

The Nissan 1400 pickup (generally called a 'bakkie' in South Africa) was in production until last year or so. There are thousands of them still on SA roads. This particular modification struck me as limited in use as a game viewing vehicle, where 4x4's would normally be used. Its low ground clearance would suggest that it is used in a much more 'civilised' kind of game park or even a zoo.
