Time for a clue - this car shares it name (almost) with another sports racing coupe that looks similar

The name starts with E

Is that name Elva?
Title: Re: MJW #067
Post by: woodinsight on December 02, 2010, 06:11:13 PM
No to both - it's not Italian and it's not Elva
It almost shares it's name with another British GT that has been solved some time ago on AutoPuzzles.
Begins with E and is six letters long......

Not Europa

I should explain that it almost shares the same name of the marque, not model, of another British GT coupe

Like Excell or like Elva, etc. but not these.
Another clue - the name is 6 letters long - starts with E and ends with N

The first and the last two letters are correct - i.e. ExxxON
It is I guess quite obscure and only one was built

Not that I'm afraid.
Another small clue - it was built in 1969

A shot in the dark:
Emerson?

As far as I'm aware it was completed and was probably raced in British club events - but don't quote me on that - I'm still researching all these obscure sports racing marques.

Iluvatar - you are very close!
You have one letter too many.
I'll lock it for you until your next reply then I'll have to open it again if the answer is incorrect.

By the way, what does MPC mean?

...Emeron????...

M.P.C. is my name... ;)

Well M.P.C. (Iluvatar) you have just won another point!

My earlier hint of it nearly sharing a name with another marque was aimed at the Emery.
It even looks a bit similar.
Whereas the last Emery was completed in 1966, the Emeron was built in 1969 by Lawrie Webber and Peter Clarke in London.
If I find more information on the car I'll post it here.

Well nobody else seems to know and I decided that to solve it in another way (like my LVT) otherwise it would have sat in the Black Hole to nobody's benefit.
You earned the point - don't worry  ;)
