Looks like it's a Gene Winfield car from the mid fifties, Ford or Chevy

I can't help but chime in on this one too...

It's Gene Winfield's 1956 Mercury, "Jade Idol", originally built in 1958 for Leroy Kemmerer.  The original concept was one of Winfield's first efforts that put him on the Kustom show circuit.  The original cost of $15,000 included Winfield being allowed to show the car for one year.  At the end of that first year it went to Kemmerer, but after Winfield had already spent $16,500 on it that first year.  So for $1,500, Winfield began his illustrious career...
