This looks like a Ford design proposal for the Escort (MK III I think)?

Welcome back Djetset!
It is a Ford and it is Escort-sized, although whether it was a serious Escort proposal I'm not so sure.
But who designed it, when, what was it based on and what was it actually referred to as?

Some of the Ford proposals of the early seventies were based on Fiat (127/128?) mechanicals. This looks like a Ghia attempt again.

Thanks for the welcome; it's nice to be back, although the next week is going to be a frught one in the build up to some major activity at Goodwood, so don't expect too many instant answers or new puzzles quite yet.

I think the car was designed by Ghia from memory, and was based on an Escort MK II chassis (or was it part of the Bobcat project; my memory fails me).

Yes, it's Ghia as you both say.
But there's no Fiat DNA there at all and it isn't based on an Escort.
Nearly there so who's going to put the last pieces in the jigsaw to get that point?!
Name, what's it based on and what was it called?

I think it is to early for Fiesta. Maybe Pinto based?

Yes it is!
So that answers your question too, Autogids - not PInto-related.

Forgot this one was still around!  So, to summarise, is it a Ghia design proposal (c.1972/3) for the original Ford Fiesta (Bobcat project)?

Crikey, so had I!
I'll have to check up on it as I'm wondering if you've already given enough info to earn the point..
Will lock it for you and will check it out, although no-one has actually mentioned the name I have it as it may not really be a formal name anyway.
Reverting later today or tomorrow.

Think you've given me enough for the point Djetset.
The book I got it from described it as the Ford "C-Car" but I don't believe it was officially called that, I think that just refers to the class of car for which it was a proposal, the C-Class being Escort-sized.
And it was a Ghia design based on a lengthened Fiesta floorpan.
So what else is there to get?  Nothing I don't think, so this one goes to bed at last.
Well done.
