Sorry for the poor quality of the pic, but the car is quite ...recognizable!

Nope, that should be a tree or a pole.
Sorry for the poor quality of the pic, but the originality of this car is still visible, after all.

Has this car ever entered production?

You keep that book at hand all the time, don't you?  :D
Well done, this is in fact the ..car.. built by G. P. Blackiston of Canton, Ohio. Its chassis was that of a former and unidentified racing car to which Blackiston fitted 2 radiators, one a honeycomb, the other a tubular. The hood was seven-and-a-half feet long and five-and-a-half feet high. "As the hood towers above the driver's head, the only direct view to the front is at one side of the car but the ingenious placing of mirrors (!) is expected to overcome this difficulty". The engine of the Blackiston developed 90hp, and the car's top speed was expected to be about 137 mph (!!).

Picture and info cames from "Standard Catalog of American Cars".

A better image of the Blackiston.  It seems to be from the same original source.
