No, but you could say there are similarities.
Is this a VW by Karosseriebaufachschule Kaiserslautern? (I admit it, I had to copy+paste that!)

That's a jolly good question!
It is indeed VW-based but I'll have to check it out and come back on that - in the meantime will lock it for you in case you're right!
Maybe a Jamos 650 GT of 1964 ?

Oops ! Sorry.
No worries.
Your guess wasn't right anyway - Barrett is right but just trying to find out a bit more detail before I shift this one to Solved!
You did very well to trace this car Barrett as I'm blowed if I can find anything about it - not even the site where I first found it!
You are of course correct in that it is a VW Special built by the students at the Karosseriebaufachschule Kaiserslautern (which I believe means the bodywork specialist school in the city of Kaiserslautern).
I did ask for the date of build in my original post, however, so once you give me that I'll be able to award you the point and put this one to bed!
Locked for your reply!
Well, it seems to date from 1958. It's one of at least two different bodies on VW chassis built by the students at Karosseriebaufachschule Kaiserslautern. Here are some more pictures, plus one of the other car. The first one comes from the book "volkswagen beetle: coachbuilts and cabriolets 1940-1960"
I'm very impressed that you've managed to find so much out!
You've posted a couple of pictures that I was going to post when it was solved, so you get a very well-earned point!
(And if you think that college name is hard to spell you want to try pronouncing it...!)
