I offered the rookies a bonus point for identifying the driver, but I think that's a bit too generous at expert level, so now there's just the one point up for grabs.

This is one of several cars built and raced under the name Scampolo from 1948 onwards. My source has this as a 1951 car, and I'm fairly sure it's the 500-cc BMW-powered Scampolo 502 which was raced during the 1951 season by Walter Komossa, one of its co-designers, who is the driver shown in the photograph.

Close enough, though. A point is yours.
