Allemano

Is that the car we're looking for?

Allemano

Still got no name for it – only a vague description...

Paul Jaray

Believe me, that vague description is all you need.

1948 "Dream Car made from Surplus"?

Paul Jaray

This is not only what is written on the cover of that magazine, but also what you can read in an ad of the car, togheter with the builder's name.

Final clue: 44-59-99

João

Humm....It´s the "Beast"? The car was called the "Beast", weighed 2,669 pounds and had a Jeep engine.

???

That is interesting!
The car is named after its builder and in each source there's nothing about "the best" but it is simply called "Special". It has got a Jeep chasiss and another pic of mine with the body lifted up, reveals that these 2 cars are the same. The builder is from New York and if you read my clues, the answer will be much easier...I remind you that another point lies somewhere if you read my clues...just in  case.

João

Grand Prix Motors was owned by James McAllister of the famous tugboat family from NY..
You´re looking for James McAllister Special?

Paul Jaray

C'mon...I litterally gave you the answer more than once.
In case you are wondering where...it's here and in others replies and there is also another EASY point if you only read between the lines...

João

FINALLY!!!!!  :drink:

:D :D

"Case Special Super Speedster" was a homebuilt dream car fashioned from a WWII Jeep."

6- This one can't be still around! I can name at least 3 of you that are familiar with this car or at least know the place where I took it...and it's not a big site at all! This car was the cover-car of a magazine...I'll leave my last clue, just in case...

About #6: it is american and it was on the cover of a magazine, but not a Popular or Automotive one...it was more about Science and Mechanics....
I know it's a big clue, but I'll leave another, just in  case.

Not this case...

Paul Jaray

Well done, but remeber the title of this puzzle...your answer is not complete.
There is one, simple point for anyone who will take the time to review my answers...there's one in particular that should make you ring a bell....I'll leave it for few hours then it will be time to move!

João

This one is not a repost I believe..

Paul Jaray

Yep...but there is that last point out there...

Paul Jaray

OK, time is over...while I give your points, please take a look at my reply #44.

I'm the one who solved it, when I started this puzzle, I checked each repost.
The other one (that's why my reply #44) was a rocket car, by Heylandt with Max Valier.
I've checked now, and they are both gone.

Allemano

I asked because I couldn't find it either. Maybe that made it a little harder to make the last point... ;D
Strange, that Ray kept silent.

The last point was a bit hard, under the circumstances...about the Case, I wrote
QuoteI can name at least 3 of you that are familiar with this car or at least know the place where I took it...
, and one of them is Ray.

Game over!  ;D

GTR 24.

Frank Matatta , " the pink beast" ( may also have ben known under another name )

Also, as far as I can tell, not a repost.

A front 3/4 view of this "radical complex" kustom.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Paul Jaray

And it seems that Rudy Makela had a lot of trouble in choosing the right fron for his custom:
