Yes, it is German and a short-living automobile manufacturer

'Short lived' means the company existed less than three years?

Neither of those, which you listed. I believe this one is quite obscure

Post by: Paul Jaray on June 30, 2010, 06:02:01 AM
Alright...there is a still-too-long list...this manufacturer was active before 1910 for 3-years....
From Berlin?
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: Allemano on June 30, 2010, 06:05:02 AM
the passenger department is quite similar, isn't it?

Okay, first I go for SUN Motorenwerke from Berlin 1906-1908
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: Paul Jaray on June 30, 2010, 06:07:42 AM
and I'll try Altmann, (1905-1907) Kraftfahrzeug-Werke GmbH, Brandeburg/Havel
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: pnegyesi on June 30, 2010, 06:09:08 AM
Yes, the two cars are similar (regarding Nacke). It is not from Berlin or any of the big cities.  It is neither Sun or Altmann

The city where this company resided had only one automobile manufacturer - this one which is the focus of this puzzle.

Let's make it easier. This one is not listed in the two-volume Beaulieu Encycloped of the Automobile

..and in the 3-volume  ;D

Eastern part of Germany (still on German territory today?)
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: pnegyesi on June 30, 2010, 06:38:19 AM
I don't have the coachbuilder's volume of the Beaulieu Encyclopedia, but I highly doubt that it appeared in there.

I think this was their only model.

For a while the city belonged to East Germany. Today it is a spa town in Germany.

Nope
Title: Re: PN #95

Then it is not a Colibri, as they made a 2 seater as well.

I have the 3-volume edition, 4 with the coachbuilder's volume, but I guess it's not there either.

It not a Colibri

Well, it could not be, as the factory making it made the Selve as well, for example.

You said it only made one marque.

Nürnberg had plenty of car manufacturers... In other words: it is not a Braun or Premier

I have 281 german makes before '45.

I don't have the Beaulieu Encyclopedia.
You say it's a '10, in Germany, a city that was inside former eastern germany, and now is inside Germany, but not Berlin. Today the city is known for spa. The maker excisted three years or less.

I'm belive I have no chance on this one. In Wismar, there was a make, Podeus, but they excisted to '18.
In Aachen, Scheele was from '99 to '10.
Vogtland is too known, and I'm unsure if they was in east, or west. Also one of my sources tell '10 to '15, and he is German. Other places I read '10 to '13.
The last option I have is Westfalia, but they also excisted over a 5 year periode.
Looking forward too see what this is, as it will be something not well known.

I'll get back to this car later. Hope there's noone who  finish this off in the meantime... ;)

It is before 1910. And Bugace, it is none of the manufacturers you listed. I can't even recall how I ended up on the page describing this automobile. But it's quite interesting, isn't it :)?

Hi Bugace,
welcome to Autopuzzles!

It seems I'm not the only one listing all the manufacturers that are\were around!
I restricted the list down to 70 names, but still too many...and I can't check the city for each one of them...
I have a car AAG, not in the Beaulieu (and also the 1st of the list)...any chance?
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: pnegyesi on June 30, 2010, 11:08:55 AM
It's going to be quite a challenge this way :) It is not an AAG

Before '10!! I've been searching all wrong then. A Taunus?
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: pnegyesi on June 30, 2010, 11:28:02 AM
No, it is not a Taunus. Taunus was located in Frankfurt-am-Main.

I seem to recall there were more than one manufacturer located in Frankfurt, which is not in Thuringia  8)

I'm not giving up yet. Trying too learn some german geografie as well, and then I wonder if it could be a FEG('04-'07)?
Title: Re: PN #95
Post by: pnegyesi on June 30, 2010, 01:10:36 PM
Good guess, because it seems to fit almost all criteria, but it is not a FEG. Gera is not a spa city though

And one more interesting tidbit: Jozsef Bory, a Hungarian engineeer studied at FEG in 1904-1905. Then he returned to Hungary and set up his workshop where he built a few cars and motorcycles.
