WAG - update of the 1947 Vettura by Luca Barnocchi?

Wait a minute! How about an updated Wimille? The streamlining, etc., seem to be congruent.

I am delighted to see you guys excited about this car, but don't forget rto check my former replies:
We've established that it id AMERICAN (even West Coast), so no Wimille, no Vettura.
As for Briggs, I don't remember who or what it is, but no Briggs either.
We've also established that the produced car was dated some years after the Phantom Corsair, so in the 1940's, and to me the streamline period is rather the 1930's.
Anyway, the company who made it never built another car.
The coachbuilder did, and some fine ones.

No.
Clue reminder: the coachbuilder was once related to Howard Darrin (see page 2)

Not Darrin, but see just above your reply.

Hibbard was co-founder of LeBaron coachbuilder, but LeBaron was from New York...

Paul Jaray

The years are wrong but the rest fits: was Robert Perreau involved?

Ray B.

Not Hibbard. Darrin was associated with one of the founder of this coachbuilding shop shortly before it started.

I must confess that I don't know Robert Perreau. But he doesn't appear here AFAIK.

Ties to the V4 Walker special?

Ray B.

Please stop putting me to shame by citing cars I never heard of.
No, the engine was a common Ford V8.

How about a Burt Chalmers proposal for a mid-engined Hewson Rocket (Coachcraft built)?

Otto Puzzell

A-ha! That makes perfect sense. That's why it never occurred to me!  ;D

Half a bingo by streamliner, who scores the first point. It's indeed a proposal for the production Hewson Rocket, built by Coachcraft, and mid-engined.

But not by Burton Chalmers. The answer, I'm afraid, is not no the net.

Then I guess it wasn't Rudy Stoessel, the guy who formed the body?

Ray B.

Not Stoessel either. A designer who didn't belong to the Coachcraft team.

Was the designer born in the US?

Ray B.

I have no idea, but he was american as far as I know.

Better-known for not-automotive design?
