Here are some cars with unusual wheel arrangements - numbered by how many wheels they have (I think...).
All you need to do is identify each one as accurately as possible and you'll get a point for each!
-
Second batch
-
Final batch
-
#1a is Bombardier EMBRIO :)
#6aa is a SHADO Jeep from the "UFO" tv series :) :)
#9aa is NSU Kettenkrad with Sd.Anh.1 trailer :) :) :)
-
1.5a Rose Monocar, by Julius Rose
2.0a Gyro Transport Systems Gyrocar
-
#2.0a is a gyrocar from Gyro Transport Systems of Northridge, California. It was called the Gyro-X and designed by Alex Tremulis.
-
0 is a Bus Ball by Corky Corker which consists of a VW Microbus chopped and comes with only a single seat, a narrow-rimmed steering wheel and the well-known VW logo at the 'front'.
12 is The Landmaster, designed by Dean Jeffires, from "Damnation Alley"
-
You've been getting your wobbly wheels on!
Correct answers so far:
1a = Bombardier EMBRIO (ImpishGrin)
1.5a = Rose Monocar by Julius Rose (Paul Jaray)
2.0a = Gyro Transport Systems Gyro-X (Ray B)
6aa = SHADO Jeep from UFO (ImpishGrin)
9aa = NSU Kettenkrad (ImpishGrin)
12 is Landmaster (Otto Puzzell)
-
0 is a Bus Ball by Corky Corker which consists of a VW Microbus chopped and comes with only a single seat, a narrow-rimmed steering wheel and the well-known VW logo at the 'front'.
That's not the answer, I'm afraid :'(
-
1.5a Rose Monocar, by Julius Rose
2.0a Gyro Transport Systems Gyrocar
Julius Rose is correct, but Ray B's Gyro-X ID on 2.0a gets the point here
-

ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons' Bus Ball
-
1.5a Rose Monocar, by Julius Rose
2.0a Gyro Transport Systems Gyrocar
Julius Rose is correct, but Ray B's Gyro-X ID on 2.0a gets the point here
You hare the boss...
-
ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons' Bus Ball
He may be the owner - but not the creator of the no-wheeled miracle bus....
-
ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons' Bus Ball
He may be the owner - but not the creator of the no-wheeled miracle bus....
Because the creator is Lars-Erik Fisk :)
and 12bb is Lockheed Terrastar, a US Army prototype from 1967
and 12cc is the Landmaster made by Dean Jeffries for the movie "The Damnation Alley"
and 16a is Canadair Fisher - a 1962 prototype of amphibious ATV
-
Hmmm....
I'll sit back and watch for a while, because surely Quiller has forgotten to demand the same level of detail for the other vehicles posted.
Or, perhaps the object is to wait for somebody else to ID a car, look up an additional detail, and steal their point?
-
Don't know what exactly you're referring to with the "level of detail". Surely, the name of the artist that created the VW ball is more important in identifying it than the owner. Lars-Erik Fisk is a guy well known for making balls from everything possible, so it wasn't that difficult to find him.
Besides, I waited 36 hours with my reply, so you had a chance :P
-
And Gyrocar\Gyro-X is enough to define a wrong reply?
I wasn't at home and I remembered that name, sure that I got the car and If something was (slightly) wrong I would have the chance to change it as it always happen.
But, that's your puzzle, it goes under your rules and if this is how you rule it, I'm fine with that.
-
If I remember well Paul, in your reply, 61 seconds before mine, you said something wrong like "Louis Brennan's gyrocar" (wich is another car) mixed with someting right (Gyro Transports System). You edited it and erased the Brennan part.
Well, I edited my post too and attributed the design to Tremulis (before I had just said he was involved I think).
I don't care who gets this point, but I want you to know that I didn't google your answer to find mine: I wouldn't have had time. I recognized the car and had a bookmarked page where I knew i could find the exact ID.

No doubt about at all.
I wrote Brennabor Gyrocar at the beginning and changed it right after...my memory sometimes defeats me!
The point is ...not the point! I mean this is Quiller call, my opinion is "Gyro Transport Systems Gyrocar" is not correct, but i don't think that there are many Gyrocars made by Gyro Transport Systems! It's like someone wrote Lanborghini or Perrari! It was wrong and with a really quick correction it could be fixed. But, once again, I'm fine with that.
@Quiller , you have to hope that all the other members will not be as precise as you are! I won't.

Besides, I waited 36 hours with my reply, so you had a chance :P
Interesting math, that.

Interesting math, that.
Well, I don't know what kind of math you have over there. The way I was taught, time that passes between "March 14, 2009, 11:36:51 AM" and "March 16, 12:49:38 AM" is 37h12m47s :)
-

4:14:06 between my first reply and the first "no" response.
11:45:03 between my second reply and the "now I need the builder" response.
Subtracted from 36 hours, that's 25:27:44.
The puzzle question posed was "be as accurate as you can", not "name the vehicle and it's builder".
End of the day, it's Quiller's puzzle, and I'll abide by his decision. :)

Sure, but I found the real builder of the car instantly after reading your second reply, when I googled the Billy Gibbons link. I was tempted to post it instantly, but thought that Quiller is going to lock this one for you, so I didn't.

I think 5aa is a Cedre Midinette Mini 1000 Electrique 6
-
Because the creator is Lars-Erik Fisk :)
and 12bb is Lockheed Terrastar, a US Army prototype from 1967
and 12cc is the Landmaster made by Dean Jeffries for the movie "The Damnation Alley"
and 16a is Canadair Fisher - a 1962 prototype of amphibious ATV
One point to you for Lars-Erik Fisk
One point to you for Lockheed Terrastar
One point to you for Canadair Fisher (model number CL-213)
But Otto already has the point for the Landmaster
-
I think 5aa is a Cedre Midinette Mini 1000 Electrique 6
It is a CEDRE, but I have a different model name for it. Locked for you for 48 hours!
-
And Gyrocar\Gyro-X is enough to define a wrong reply?
I know I'm being pernickety! ;)
-
It is a CEDRE, but I have a different model name for it. Locked for you for 48 hours!
Not 36 hours? ;)

Nope, it's me who's giving 36 hours :P

-
3a is Piaggio, but I really can't find the model name for it. ??? :(
Seek and ye shall find (possibly)
-

Isn't Piaggio enough? I don't have so much time to search for the model name (if there's any) :(
-
I think I have found it.. It is mentioned differently in different sources... But I think it is Piaggio P-103 (because it has three wheels)...

The 1935 Dyno Wheel Motor Bus
"PROMISING to revolutionize the field of motor transportation, the new Dyno-Wheel bus operates upon practically the same principle as the tiny “Dynasphere” auto which was successfully built by Dr. J. A. Purves of Taunton, England, some years ago.
A single huge drum wheel supports the car at high speeds. Control wheels on either side are raised or lowered in response to the steering gear, to tip the bus slightly and change the direction of travel. Small fore and aft wheels come into action only when stopping or starting. A stabilizing fin keeps the car level at high speeds."

Is that Allis Chalmers orange?
-
Nevermind the Allis Chalmers thought...
It's a Lely Multipower 420:
Built in Texas in 1976, the wild-looking Lely Multipower 420 was offered with a choice of two Cummins, Caterpillar, or Detroit Diesel engines. Each engine drove a set of six wheels. No drivetrain components passed through the joint in the middle of the articulated tractor, a design that was said to reduce wear and tighten the machine's turning radius. One engine could be shut down in lighter work, and the front engine could propel the vehicle while all of the energy from the rear engine was directed to a PTO-driven implement. The Multipower had a fuel tank in the front and rear.
