One for the coachbuilding fans.... The make should be easy, but who made the body? I'm afraid I don't know! You'll need to supply some proof to get the point. As always, detailed answers are very welcome

barrett

Can an expert solve the mystery?

DeAutogids

Let's start with Healey 2.4?

barrett

the base car is a Healey, yes!

DeAutogids

I have a feeling the car is Dutch coachbuild.

barrett

That was my feeling too.... certainly it's from Europe.

Healey by Pennock?

Maybe, like I say I don't know the coachbuilder!

Healey by Pennock?

I don't think so.

The Healey by Pennock don't have the suicide doors like the one in the puzzle
Bumper and headlights are different to.

I don't think it's Westland

Can a pro solve the mystery?

João

Oldrich Uhlik, car body maker from Prague,
Czech Republic. He was offered to make a four-seat body on a Healey chassis.
The contrtact was signed at the Paris Carshow in 1947 between Morris and
Uhlik, who was asked to make 200 bodies for the US market. The first body was
finished in February 1948, the Morris company was very satisfied, but the
communist overtake in Czechoslovakia spoiled the business. Later in 1948
Nuccio Bertone made some 100 bodies on the Healey chassis.

That's what I have.

barrett

Very interesting! That certainly seems to fit with the style of the car.

Is it possible to PM me some proof (if you have any)? Perhaps another puzzler can confirm whether this is correct?

woodinsight

I can PM you an extract from a reliable source if necessary

That would be very good of you, thanks

barrett

Thanks to woodinsight I'm now certain this is indeed by Uhlik, so another well-deserved point for João.
