Maybach SW38 by Wendler  1950

Hmm. I actually had this as a different coachbuilder, however this car does look much more like the work of Wendler than the firm I have listed.

Can you, or anyone else, give some proof either way. I took this image and my information from the internet so it's likely to be unreliable.....

No sorry !

Maybach SW38 Ponton cabriolet Spohn 1948 ;)

That's what I have, yes!

It does look very similar to Wendler bodied cars of the same period, and not a lot like anything Spohn was doing though

However, the Maybach site describes it as a "2-türiges Sport-Cabriolet von Wendler/Reutlingen, gebaut 1948 im Auftrag der Firma Eisenlohr auf kurzem Chassis, Baujahr 1939."

It definitely is a Wendler body as you can see by the badge at the lower end of the front wing:

Okay, I'll change the topic title. Good eyes!

It´s been sold to the USA in 1952.

Since then every information is lost...

It is back in the spotlight again. It was part of the Rudi Klein collection / scrapyard and will be auctioned soon.
