Is it Fiat based?

I wouldn't say that exactly. It shares a common engine with Fiat though.

wingroad, I'm going to keep this locked for you for a further 24 hours and then I'm opening it up again as I know other puzzlers know the answer.... You've got 90% of the answer, it should be easy to complete it for the point.

Thanks barrett, I am assuming its not a Lada. Presumably a Russian built Autobianchi A111

Russian? No. I just noticed I never answered Julien1A's question  :-X

Anyway, Autobianchi A111 is all I was looking for. A point for you.

A car our neighbour owned as I was a kid.
I loved it as it was such a rarity on German roads in those days.

I knew it also, but did not answer as it was locked for someone else!
But my reason for posting here is that I some time ago tried to locate a windshield for an A111. I assumed that it might be the same as a 128 or 124 Fiat, but had it never confirmed. Anyone who knows?

That was me! I was asking on behalf of someone else, who was planning on importing an A111 into the UK. Unfortunately the car turned out to me in far worse condition than he expected and he didn't end up buying it. We never got a conclusive answer as to the source of the windscreen.

I remember sitting in the car when my parents considered buying it, and hitting the top of the rear window with my head, repeatedly. A no sale, that day.

A rear view in its usual two tone paint (something / brown  ;) )
