Who knows this convertible?
Nice!
Promoted.
It looks Siata-esque...
But it is not one...
Spirou and Fantasio would have loved it. ;)
:D
Sure, it is even drawn in comic style...
I have not found any evidence if it has really been built.
But this is a part of a magazine advertisement of a renowned coachbuilding company.
And they gave it a name I want to hear...
Pegaso?
Michelotti?
None of those.
Is it a Pininfarina design?
No, not Pininfarina.
And it is indeed a well known italian coachbuilding company´s car.
But the technical basis is not italian.
Touring?
Cunningham Vignale?
None of those.
Felber?
Quote
And it is indeed a well known italian coachbuilding company´s car.
Felber was swiss, I think.
allemano, because it looks as if Michelotti did the design
None of those.
There are just some better known ones left...
How about Ghia?
LOCKED for you!
Now: what was the technical basis and how did they name that baby?
Is it based on a Chrysler platform?
It is not american.
Is it a Lancia?
Not a Lancia.
One last try and you can unlock it...is it supposed to be a version of a Ferrari America?
No.
OPEN for all again, thanks to Aaron.
I'll keep plugging away until someone gets it (or I do!); is it an Italian base???
Other Italian coachbuilders had similar ideas at that time: this is a Fiat 1100 Boano
Wild guess : Proposal design by Ghia for a Jaguar XK120 Supersonic convertible??
None of all mentioned before.
This photo/picture is part of a belgian Ghia advertisement.
And the basis car is not italian.
jaguar?
not british also.
Is it a possible Bugatti proposal?
Not Bugatti, but the basis car is french.
Talbot-Lago?
Gregoire?
Not Gregoire.
Not a Talbot, also.
Arista??
Not Arista.
Salmson 2300?
Quotewhen in doubt, guess Salmson
It think we had those words here before... :D
But - no, it is no Salmson either.
Let's get crazy--how about a Delage???
Not a Delage.
Facel-Véga?
Not Facel Vega.
There aren´t too many of the well known french makes left - and it definitly is a well known make...
Delahaye?
Not Delahaye.
Simca?
Not Simca...
Delage?
Not Delage.

Not Delage.
That's funny - it wasn't last time Aaron asked either!

Ha ha! I'm losing track! Looks like I've gone full circle!!!
;D
Well, you've told us it's based on a well-known French make . . . so let's see if we can't eliminate a few more, or zero in a little better on the correct answer. Is it based on a:
- Citroen?
- Renault?
- Panhard?
This has been one of the more entertaining quizzes so far. I kind of hope it isn't one of these three!
QuoteI kind of hope it isn't one of these three!
Sorry, but it is one of the named frech "big three"...
:D
Bonnet?
Quote- Citroen?
- Renault?
- Panhard?
it IS one of them!
QuoteI kind of hope it isn't one of these three!
And this is why I´ve said I´m sorry. ;)
So.....Panhard?
LOCKED for you.
It is indeed a Ghia body on a Panhard chassis.
But now I want to hear a specific name to be able to award a point for this puzzling puzzle.
;)
Now I´ve changed the puzzle pic to show you all some more of the original magazine advertisement.
Is it a Paul Sterckx ad?
This name is not mentioned in the ad.
I only noticed he has the same adress as in youre ad.
So may have another piece of the name added to Panhard and Ghia, mentioned in your photo...

you mean Levassor?
No...
Mentioned in my foto?.......Dyna?
This puzzle begins to end:
Dyna Panhard XXXXXXXXX Ghia
Still locked for you.
Mayby it is Dyna Panhard Cabriolet Ghia??
Hmmm, I´ve got to make a kind of an excuse.
I did some research on that car:
at least one of those must have been produced as a Convertible and one as a Coupé.
And despite the fact that the coachbuilding company is just called "GHIA" in the ad, I´m quite sure now that this has been a "Ghia-Aigle" body...
Now you´ve got another chance to give me the correct and full name of this
Dyna Panhard XXXXXX Ghia
(and do not count the Xs - it is two names that are still missing)
Grand Sport?
You´re almost there!
Your first world would read GRAN in italian, of course.
What is the second (and it is NOT Turismo)
DYNA PANHARD GRAN XXXXXX (Carrozzeria) GHIA
As it has a Ghia-Aigle body maybe it's
DYNA PANHARD GRAN SUISSE (Carrozzeria) GHIA ?
Do NOT count my X´s...
No, Suisse is not the world I´m looking for.
Gran Luxe?
Man, because I do not want to torture anyone here I´ll help you now.
And this Time the number of X´s is the number of the last unknown letters:
Dyna Panhard Gran LuXXX (Carrozzeria) Ghia.
I want to give you that point now...
Does he have to put an O and two identical letters instead of the XXX in order to form an Italian word? I hope, he'll make it :D
Well - nothing more to say about that...
:D
Dyna Panhard Gran Lusso (Carrozzeria) Ghia
:applause:

In the Pagneux book, those two Ghia-Aigle (coupe and convertible) are mentioned, but without a photo. Meanwhile the Ghia coupe is pictured, and it looks very different.
There is a 1954 Panhard Dyna Cabrio mentioned. Its french registration was 1565 DA 75.
And there are some pics of the coupé around.
Brochures and drawings at that time deliberatly changed proportions to make the product much sleeker and attractive...
Here´s the sole surviving Coupé:

Compare it to the ad and you will find that those are kind of brothers...
Cabrio at Geneva 1953 show

The Ghia-Aigle archive only mentions a Panhard Dyna Cabriolet "Grand Sport" in 1953.
Another view of the coupe
Have a look at reply 135 ;)
