This one is pretty straightforward. Easily recognizable automobiles, each connected, in a way, to the other.

To take the point, you must identify both vehicles, and the connection between them. No points for naming one or both vehicles - the connection must be made, as well.

Dodge Charger Olympia and Opel "Olympia" ?

I believe the 1st car is a Mercury Cougar Convertible, 1969, possibly XR7, 1953 Opel Olympia Rekord, still trying to figure out the connection.

So far, so good

Opels would later be sold in the US by Buick dealers. In 1967-1968, Buick started using a dramatic sweep-spear on the sides of its cars. Mercury borrowed the sweep-spear idea for the '69 Cougar. Yes, I admit it's a real stretch - perhaps to the breaking point.

Otto Puzzell

It's a valid (if far-fetched) connection. But not the one I'm after.  :)

So do I get the point if no-one comes closer? ;D

Otto Puzzell

The way my puzzles have been languishing in the Black Hole, I just might consider that.  ;D

I'd like to correct my year for the Opel .... not 1953 but rather a 1955 as signified by the round parking/turn signal lights at the grill ends.
I see the similarity with the Buick body character lines on the LeSabre, Wildcat and Electras.
Other connections I see.
1. Both Front engine RWD
2. Standard 3 speed manual transmission.

Otto Puzzell

Both of those are OK, but not the connection.

The answer is related to a person

Two people connections maybe.
1. XR-7G for Dan Gurney had an available sunroof installed by ASC started by two German immigrants, Heinz Prechter and Werner Miess who also worked for Opel.

How about an executive of some sort?

I guess it's no coincidence that you only show us the half of the cars..?

Otto Puzzell

Correct. There is something removed in each cropped picture that would make the solution much easier.

Otto Puzzell

No. In each picture, part of what I was attempting to obscure is still visible.

No, not really. In one case, the detail is an accessory component. In the other case, the vehicle is on the verge of transformation.

I think I may have been too generous with that, but it will give folks something to work with.  :)
