Much like Tara, the connection is an oft-dismissed #2

Otto Puzzell

This never happened to the other fellow....

Is it a James Bond connection?  Diana Rigg drove one of those Cougars in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and that's a Lazenby quote you just gave.

Otto Puzzell

That's half the answer - that is the Cougar XR7 (with ski rack) driven by Rigg. Lazenby is also connected, in a way, with the Opel. Can you ID how?

Locked until your next answer has been responded to.

Aaron65

Lazenby worked as a car salesman and auto mechanic in his earlier days--could he have worked on Opels?

Otto Puzzell

He may have, but not the Opel pictured. His work as a mechanic is not part of this puzzle.

Allemano

Is it open again? I would make a guess if so.

Aaron65

I'm coming up blank, Allemano, so have a go.  Thank you, by the way, for asking.

George Lazenby's first film appearance was in the movie "Espionage in Tangiers (Agente segreto 777 - Operazione Mistero)", where a Opel Olympia Rekord was pictured.

:censored:
I was just waiting for Otto to unlock this puzzle. Didn't you notice?

Wendax

Sorry, I understood that Aaron65 had opened it up for all.

Allemano

He can't. He isn't the author of the puzzle.

OK, point for Wendax. The lock I imposed yesterday was in place until which time Aaron next answered, which he had, before Wendax answered. I had thought of being more explicit in my lock-parameter-setting, but was not.

All is not lost

This bonus question is open to Allemano and Aaron65 only:  The Opel was more than pictured in Espionage in Tangiers. It was ______________ , which was central to the plot.

What, exactly, happened to the Opel?

And before a film historian jumps in to re-start the age-old "Lazenby wasn't really in that movie" debate, I suggest the preponderance of evidence is against you, and..... this is only a game! :)
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Allemano

I can't find any proof for that, but guess it's the car that is disentigrated by the Professor's weapon?

Otto Puzzell

That's it! I have a screen cap on my home computer (I'm at HQ today), which I'll post soon.

Oddly, I can no longer locate the online video from which I grabbed it... :-\
