No, it's because I grew up in Kenya and saw it race there.  ;)

The LGS was a hillclimb special built in 1949 by Frank Le Gallais in Jersey.  It had the third XK engine that Jaguar sold separately from the car and the first that was destined for use in a car as the other two went into boats.  Le Gallais set records at Bouley Bay Hillclimb in Jersey and won his class at Shelsley Walsh. 
By 1958 the car was outclassed and he sold it and it ended up in Kenya.  There it competed in the Brackenhurst Hillclimb and raced at Nakuru Park race track.
The photo shows the car in its later years in Kenya.  It was found to overheat so the nose was opened up to get more cooling air to the radiator.  (After 50 years I can't remember whether a larger radiator was fitted but I think so).  It also got a rather smart repaint and became red with a white noseband.

The car was destroyed in a crash and I think the engine ended up in a restored XK120.
