a little late, No 217:
moved
The windscreen looks like it was originally used on a Wartburg. Is this a one-off from GDR?
Sharp eye! Keep track of this!
On the other hand... it seems the Wartburg screen is the only spare part used of that company. (except of some interior parts as I've read now)
The wheels look Volkswagen and the indicators Mercedes-Benz 220 Ponton...
Yes, it's a mongrel and not a very pretty one!
I need the name of the builder and of the car it is based on
Pros?
To the graveyard..
bottom left shows the roadster version of the car before it got that ugly pale skin
Was its builder responsable (should I say guilty?) of other creations? Like Erdmann?
I thought this one was solved so I never bothered to find the name of the builder.... I just saved these pictures ::)
Hopefully i'll be able to find it again.... It's based on a VW platform, that's all I know!

As far as I remember (I'll check it at home, later) it was the only car the builder ever made. (thank god!)

That's the one! I think it would be fair to lock this for you till your next reply.. (or for max. 72h!)
This car was named after it's builder. It's called "__-Coupé or "__-Wagen"
It's indeed built on a VW, though on a special VW.
I wonder if he was inspired by the Flintridge DKW Darrin - there are a few styling similarities
Probablybased on a Kuebel.
From Leipzig?
No, the builder is from Berlin.
I have it as Wxxxx Wxxxx
Willy Weber?
No.
Searching for clues I just found the location where it is currently exhibited:
I know which collection it is, but still no name. :(
ring ring!
I didn't get that hint. But at least it seems as if the East German Porsche VW special we discussed recently (in connection with the Miersch-Porsche) has found its way into that collection, too.
Actually it wasn't a hint, but a suggestion. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g106/pan1968/Gifs/telephone.gif)
So far I couldn't find neither a web-page of that museum nor a list of the shown cars.
There are a few videos on the net showing the puzzle car, but unfortunately it's passed without any comment..
Maybe Pal will take an order...
And you easily can find the article source where the car is featured on the home page of the magazine...

Willi Wehle?
Not Willi Wehle.
The name is not a fore-name sur-name combination, but a surname and a designation for a car/body shape in general.
What, a W... Wagen?
Wähle Wagen?
Willy Wagen?
Not a forname!
Werks Wagen
Wexxx Wagen
Wehle Wagen
Weitz Wagen?

Mea culpa
The car is currently displayed at family Grundmann's VW museum in Hessisch Ollendorf/Germany.
It's said to be one of the biggest and most interisting collections of VW rarities at all.
