Title: GC037 Hillman Impaler aka bat mobile
Post by: gilescooperuk on November 14, 2011, 06:50:32 PM
Here is something slightly different...

I have a name but it is rather generic, so instead I want the base car and as many of the components you can identify....

There are major parts from 6 cars to make this one up.....

Have fun...

I'll start with the 59 Cadi fins. I can't tell if the base car is american or not ........ maybe a 61/62 Rambler? or is it a Studebaker Lark?

fins are correctly identified - the base car definitely not (a clue the wheels are 13" might help with the size of car)

Well that is the car - but if you look back at the start I wanted to know where the various bits came from....

Because Batmobile was a bit generic...

I know, I know, just had some fun watching a video of the car. Are there any Chevy Impala bits?

The Impaler also uses a chopped Austin Westminster roof, a Webasto fold-back sunroof taken from a Rover P6, 1959 Cadillac-style rear finned wings, 1946 Chevy front grill and bumpers, bonnet/hood modified from a Morris Marina, a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette chrome boot rack and boot trim  taken from a 1956 Chevy. A rear scrap yard special!!

Oh sorry, I meant Morris Minor; not Marina!  I spoke to the chap that built the car, and he said the bonnet was based around a standard Hillman Imp bonnet, with additional bits welded into the centre from a Morris Minor bonnet to re-shape it with a 'power bulge'!

I also meant to add that the short windscreen wipers are modified Range Rover headlamp wipers  ;D

That solves it - unless you can give an explanation for the hedgehog... (know I don't know myself just curious)
