I've added a point for you for identifying the car. I didn't know about the 20 days build time  ::)

Who will get the next point for identying the mechanicals? Free for all again  :)

Apparently she (The real Dr Hope) bought this car

There is someone on this forum with a vast knowledge of the make that this car is based on.

It looks like rear wheel drive, so my first guess is Fiat 132.

guido66

Rear wheel drive indeed, but you're way off on the model.

Fiat 1100?

Yes! The running gear is of a 1954 Topolino. Another long running puzzle solved.

More interesting, I think, is why this car was featured in the film...

While I can understand the reasons for using a "replica" in a film like this, rather than a genuine veteran car, I'm a bit stunned to find that they sacrificed a 55-year-old Topolino to make this thing, which doesn't even look very authentic. Wouldn't an old Nissan Micra have done?

Or if it had to be a fairly small rear-wheel drivetrain, there must be possibilities from the 70s which are virtually worthless these days - Vauxhall Viva/Chevette, Opel Kadett, Triumph Toledo, Hillman Avenger. Even a late Morris Minor.

If they had used a pre-84 Toyota Starlet, I would probably have stood and cheered, but this seems such a waste. :(

I can't find my original source anymore, but I did find this ad. The 35hp engine suggests that it must be a 1100 after all  ::) Which is also a terrible waste to turn into something like this.
