No animals involved in its name at all!

With Olympic, Olympian, Comet and Worldmaster ruled out and it being no animal name that leaves it either being built upon a double decker chassis like Titan or Atlantean, or you have a model code like PSUC1 which (in this case) would again be an animalous Tiger Cub. Or have I forgotten a possibility?

It is one you haven't mentioned.
Believe it was experimental only and didn't lead to production vehicles which used the name.

Was 33 a special one-off build for BEST?
The BEST webside itself mentioned only ten articulated buses in their history where made for the BEST Undertaking, and only Mahindra Owen as the coachbuilder.

No, It wasn't operated by BEST but by someone else altogether, who actually operated two of these.

Only 4 points left to get now then (unless anyone can supply some info I don't have!):

Bus 24: Model & Date (1 point); bodybuilder (1 point)
Bus 30: Bodybuilder (1 point)
Bus 33: Bodybuilder (1 point)

Can we get this one moved to Solved?!

I think you'll find that I've guessed the bodywork to #24 - MCW (Metro-Cammell-Weymann)
Another guess for the coachwork on #30 - Roe?

#104

So you did, on 16th February.  Sorry!
I did give you a point at the time and I've already credited you with it in the list of answers; just half-asleep this afternoon!

#30 is not Charles Roe, no.

woodinsight has pointed out my error, so to correct it:

There are just 3 points left to earn now:

Bus 24: Model & Date - 1 point
Bus 30: Bodybuilder - 1 point
Bus 33: Bodybuilder - 1 point

They are the ones I thought would cause most difficulty but the answer to at least one of them is out there on the 'Net; the others I got from a book so not sure it's possible to get the answer by computer..

I found the model designation for #29 coincidentally. It is a 1938 Twin Coach Model 58-GDE, a diesel-electric bus. Two samples built with this particular four axle layout.

Time for another go at #30 - Willowbrook?

Still not, no.
You'll kick yourself when you find the answer - it's not obscure!

Well done Wendax.  Must be worth another point!

Although I have a few possibilities remaining regarding the coachwork on bus #30, one firm I discounted was Plaxton as they are mainly recognised for postwar coach bodies. However on checking my sources they were apparently active between 1919-1935 building passenger and car bodywork.
Therefore - #30 Plaxton?

João

Number #30 made car bodies too like Windovers?

Carnut

Not Plaxton or Windovers, but yes, they have also done coachwork on cars.
