The grain elevators on #3 are in El Reno, which makes it a pair with #8.

Good

Is #2 a Smith from #1 Topeka, Kansas?

No

This would be a nice tour from Chicago to Oklahoma (following very roughly the eastern part of Route 66?).

Ah-hah! You've jumped ahead, but your answer is not quite right.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Wendax

#1 shows Los Angeles city hall. Is #2 the Tourist, built in L.A.?

The correct order is then:
(12,5)
(10,9)
(14,7)
(4,13)
(6,11)
(8,3)
(2,1)

Otto Puzzell

Right place; wrong car

Finally found it. #2 is the 1909 Durocar.

Otto Puzzell

Right - and the final solution is...?
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Wendax

#31
Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles

BTW, the car in picture #1 is a 1959 Chevy Impala, of course.

#32
Wow - with the exception of one pairing, you got them all, and the follow up question, too! Well done.

That's a Bel Air, according to my records, but no worries - the location was the key.

I'll tally the points later on

Amazing.  Wendax seems to know every place in the US, besides from every car.

Once I had the idea of following the Route 66, it was much easier.  :D
But to reassure you, I don't know many places in the US. Some 30 years ago, I spent a year in Oklahoma as an exchange student, but didn't travel a lot then. But Google Street View is an amazing tool to identify places if you have an idea where it could be.  ;D

Ray B.

I didn't score at all, but nevertheless: that was a very nice idea for a group puzzle.

Thanks, Ray

That's 8 points to Wendax (putting him into the +300 club) for identifying 6 pair, and getting the bonus question.

1 point for João, who started the journey in Chicago.

Chicago, Illinois / Chevy Caprice Police Persuit Vehicle / 1905 Banker / João
Lincoln, Illinois / Ford Mustang / 1908 Lincoln High Wheeler / Wendax
St Louis, Missouri / Chevy HHR / 1903 St. Louis Runabout / Wendax
Kansas City, Missouri / Wienermobile / 1922 Gregory / Wendax

El Reno, Oklahoma / Chevy Blazer / 1910 Pioneer / Wendax
Los Angeles, California / Chevy BelAir / Duro Car / Wendax

Thank you. Almost unnecessary to say that I enjoyed this puzzle very much  ;D

WOW!!!

Quite the puzzle ... but, might I suggest an ACTUAL road trip along Route 66????
