Well, the coachbuilder is absolutely clear, but that can be either an Osca, Maserati of Ferrari underneith...

For my 750th puzzle I decided to ask your help to solve a mystery that I haven't been able to solve yet.
The car has been posted before and is easily identified.
However the two photos below show the car in the pits and during the race at the Le Mans 24hrs.race in 1952.
You will notice that the front has changed quite radically.
What I'd like to know, for a point, is what was the reason for this?

Egg on my face time! (oeuf sur mon visage).
It has been pointed out to me by one of our Professional puzzlers that in fact the two photos are from different years - 1952 and 1953 at Le Mans.
I should have checked the facts more thoroughly but just assumed it was the same year as the cars carried the same number in those two years.
The car is of course the Osca MT4 Le Mans Coupe by Vignale.
A mystery that turned out to be a non-mystery!

Chantilly is not that far from Spain or Italy (much closer than Pebble Beach for instance), so you just have to come for a visit next year !
