Neither Maltby or Hooper

I've been trying to think about who made prestige car bodies, but went on to do buses.

How about Mann Egerton?

woodinsight

Not Mann Egerton.

A small (big?) clue - the company virtually ceased building car bodies just prior to WW II but they did exhibit a car at the first post-war motor show.
The company finally ceased coachbuilding in the mid 1950s.

Sorry but not Grosvenor

It was later owned by the legendary Nubar Gulbenkian.
