What's the make and model of this (slightly fuzzy) car?
Do any experts now?
Time to move it up
Ford 2000 GT?
It's from a marque that's a lot smaller than Ford...
Picchio?
Lotus maybe? I remember seeing this car before, but can't recall anything.
Nor Lotus ...
Was in made in Slough, England?

Was in made in Slough, England?
That's very specific! The specific answer, however, is: no
Ah, had it been made in Slough, I might have had an idea of what it was. However, as it was not, then I don't have a clue!
Time to move this one out ..... I may start giving clues ;)
Clue: the place this car was made will give you the name of the car
From UK?
Yes!
The place will give us the name of the car or the name of the maker?
Ford V6 engined?
Sorry this one's been neglected.
Yes, the car is named after the place where it was built
Not Ford V6-engined - in fact, the proposed engine was one of the most interesting aspects of this car
Is a known maker or an obscure one?
Halifax?
Well, you can find references to this manufacturer, so I guess it is known - although this was the only automotive project it attempted
Not from Halifax though...

Is the place a big city?
Bradford?
It's not a city - more of a region...
Cotswold?
Not Cotswold. I'm reluctant to give away too many clues as it will instantly give away the answer
Chiltern.
Think much more distinctive...! ;)
Wales?!
Severn? (as in Severn Valley)
WAs the builder know for other things? Say, aircraft?
Otto, I've just done as you asked as said 'aircraft'!
Could it be Highlands?

WAs the builder know for other things? Say, aircraft?
You said it!
Yes  this car came from an aircraft designer
(But not one from Wales or Scotland)
Tara?
Is this manufacturer listed in any book?
(I mean in any book you know...)
Yes, it can be found listed (but not pictured) in one book I know
Westland?
Scottish Aviation?
Midland(s)?
Neither Scottish nor Midlands ...
Berwick? (as in English aircraft makers F.W. Berwick and Co.)
Not Berwick ...
Brooklands?
Bristow?
Neither of those...
Clue: the area this car was named after (and was built in) has a population of 80,000 people
Hyndburn?
Not that. Remember we're looking for a 'region'...
Wessex?
Mercia?
Neither those
Lake District?
Britten-Norman?
Watford?
It's not named after a town but an 'area' (not Lake District by the way)
Quote from: Carnut on June 07, 2011, 10:44:46 AM
Britten-Norman?
I was thinking of their Islander, perhaps being an area; or even 'Britten' being a corruption of 'Britain'!
Pennine(s)?
Northumbria?
Neither of those.
Remember: a region with a population of circa 80,000....
Selby?
Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin)?

Isle of Man (Ellan Vannin)?
You've found the right place :applause:
Now all we need is the correct brand name and model designation...
Manx for brand name and GT for model designation?

Manx for brand name and GT for model designation?
Manx
is the brand name! :applause:
I'll lock the puzzle for you till your next reply to come up with the model designation...
Manx 201 designed and built by airship designer Roger Munk (Airship Industries) in 1993.
The mid-engined coupe used a lightweight honeycomb chassis and carbon-Kevlar bodywork to keep weight down to only 975kg. It was planned to fit a flat-8 3.3 litre engine with a revolutionary crankshaft but this did not reach fruition.
It had been claimed that, in twin-turbo form, it would produce an output of 340 bhp powering the car to a maximum of 290kph. Despite announcing plans to make 70 cars per annum, the necessary finance never materialised.
That's the car! A very interesting project. Other than a sole report in Autocar magazine (and the Beaulieu encyclopedia entry you've quoted), I've never seen any other info or pics on this car.
