What's the identity of this car?

I'd say the 1960 Renault Caravelle Fusée Butagaz by Pourtout

Quiller

You have more detail that I do! This one was Propagaz-liveried, not Butagaz, but the point is yours!

pguillem

This publicity car was used both by Propagaz and Butagaz.  Six "Fusée" took part at the 1960 Tour de France Publicity Caravan. Three were forPROPAGAZ (red and grey) and three for BUTAGAZ (dark blue and light blue).  Each had a different number.

Celebrating the next 100 puzzles with a breathtaking design.

For one point, please respond and identify this car by telling what it is based on, who was the coachbuilder and when was it built for whom?

Wendax

No Rookie response, up it goes

barrett

I think it's a Renault Caravelle by Chapron, 1960 (presumably designed by Charbonneaux)

Wendax

Yes, you think right. Tell me for whom this car was built, and the point is yours. Locked, of course.

barrett

You mean which company? Butagaz, for the 1960 TdF (the one next to it has Propagaz signage but I'm not an expert on the French gas companies, so I assume it is the same firm - I know 6 were made, three in each livery)

Wendax

Perfect answer. Butagaz and Propagaz were two different marques of the company URG, which changed its name to Butagaz in the 1980's.

Another point for you.
