What's this? If you know You'll get a point!
I have this identified as a 1948 CHS (France).
It seems you're close, but unfortunately not close enough! Try to get more of this car!
If my source had this wrong (or I misread it in the first place), then I'm not sure what else I can get.
It has a certain name which you haven't mentioned yet!

Should this maybe be called "Chausson CHS"?
Yes! :)
Should this maybe be called "Chausson CHS"?
The way you're posting confuses me! ::)
I have it only as "Chausson" guess CHS is a shortcut!
But the point is yours!
Sorry - I didn't know you'd be replying to my replies before I got done editing them!
I have Chausson as the company name (a bus manufacturer) and CHS as the make. Sometimes what makes a "make" isn't clearly defined. Anyway, I think "Chausson CHS" would really be the correct answer.
So, can anyone explain this then? These photos are obviously the Chausson, but the first photo clearly shows it outside the Delaney & Sons works (who also built the Eyston recod car). So was this car built in England for the French company and then shipped over to France? Seems a curious way of going about things.
Who has the full story on this car?
The CHS was developped by Chausson during the German occupation. It was planned to be sold as a Chenard & Walcker. Three CHS were built, two with a 330 cc single cylinder engine, one with the 550 cc engine which should power the Chenard & Walcker van (later on becoming the Peugeot D3A van). The CHS was shown at the 1946 Paris Salon. In 1947 one of the prototypes was sold to Delaney-Gallay, who built radiators like Chausson. But it was impossible for Delaney-Gallay to obtain the necessary sheet metal, so no CHS were produced in Britain.
Thanks for clearing that up Wendax
Delaney's car still exists:
It was sold at auction at last year's Silverstone Classic, and purchased by Chausson! I took plenty of photos of this rare car, but sadly they were on the SD card that was in my stolen camera, so now long gone...
The restored car was shown at Rétromobile back in February of this year.
