It's a Mercedes*, that should make it easy for someone..... I've searched for this one before, on another 'mystery car' thread on another forum..... and I tried again last night, but still I can't find it.... :(

*Not sure if it's factory-built, or merely uses Mercedes mechanicals though

Both of you are correct, but you should read the requirements of this puzzle. Start your engines!

I missed Arunas reply...
My guess will be Mercedes Benz C-111 by Bruno Sacco... I'll have to dig more...

See special vehicles being in the Museum of Mercedes-Benz - is--a rare design study shows the Museum now - but in the Museum car park on level 0: the C 111 design study.
(This earlier design study of a Mercedes-Benz C 111 comes from the famous designer Bruno Sacco - he worked from 1958 to 1999 as designer and designer style list) led by Karl Wilfert, Friedrich Geiger and belief on different projects with Béla Barényi eg. the Mercedes-Benz 600 and as "Pagoda" known Roadster 230 SL, SL 250 and 280 SL W 113 series

Tasty indeed. Nice work, Bruno, wherever you are!

Absolutely.  Will have to file it under the Biggest Waste dept...

Some minor flaws: the ugly rims and the huge Mercedes star! I reckon to make the front more distinctive resp. MB-ish, they took one of XL-size.

Actually that's one of the main reasons why the C-111 models made it never to production. The uncharacteristic (for MB) design and the unreliable Wankel technology.

Where's your silver paint brush?
Pardon?

To show us what it looks like without those awful huge M-B 3-pointed stars..
(Now that you've changed the wheels!)

If you take a closer look you should see that I already made the star smaller. As it's no mystery anymore I leave it like that. ;)

If it's an early study for the C111, shouldn't it be called C101 -early code for the project?

If it is a 1967 study, perhaps it is not related to C101 at all.
