It's not the Bunce Buck in it's original form is it?

Not that.
The builder is known for his later engagement in two specific makes, though this special is based on none of these.

Those look like Jowett wheels but it's LHD and there's an SU carb and a rocker box in the wrong place for a Jowett engine so probably not.

No Jowett connection here. It's based on a well known car, more common than any Jowett I think.

Was it raced in a land down under?

The builder is not Australian, therefore I believe it was never raced in Oz.

R.W. Kastner is probably better known as 'Kas' Kastner who built this car nicknamed ""Kassaratti" based on an MG TD around 1959/60. He had already built another cycle-winged MG special in the early 1950s so I presume this was his second car.
Kas Kastner ran the Triumph Competition Department from 1960-1972 before joining Nissan's competition department to bring success to their racing programme. His position was Vice-President of Nissan Performance Technology.
There is of course, a lot more interesting history on 'Kas' Kastner that can be found on the 'net.
