This car was built by the East German IGF (Interessengemeinschaft Fahrzeugbau) of the "Club of young Technicians Thalheim". It was presented in November 1958 at the "First Central Fair of the Masters of Tomorrow" in Leipzig. It featured a 350 cc single-cylinder engine.

So far so good, but this car got a certain name!

Wendax

Unfortunately it is a name I'm not aware of. I found this picture many years ago in an East German newspaper article, probably commemorating the 25th anniversary of the MMM 1958. That article didn't mention a name for the car. The only book I know it is mentioned in is the Thyssen "Europäische Kleinwagen 1955-1965". But since I sold the particular picture and information to Mr. Thyssen, there isn't a name mentioned either.

Can we say that the 24 hours is over? I'd like to put this one to bed before I go to sleep.

Wendax

Go ahead, Pal. I didn't find a name. Just one guess: Sputnik 350

Allemano

Surprisingly neither "Fortschritt" nor "Pionier". :D
And not "Broiler" by the way...

In the picture you posted here, it says "of the type Käfer". I don't know if the text was made in Western Germany, but if so, I would think it might mean it was build similar to the beetle?
Just a thought.

Allemano

No. As you can see it doesn't resemble the Volkswagen Käfer in any way. I guess it was coincidence or they tried to get a little attention in the eastern part of Germany.

DeAutogids

As said, just a thought. Though it looks like the suspension and engine are in a similar way to the beetle. Anyways. As said, just a thought.
