We shall see after the Pro's had shared their knowledge.
I'll move it soon if there's not more coming from the experts.

Stepping back further in history: 1959?

:applause: Wohoo!! We have a winner!!! :applause:

It's indeed the first prototype of the Form in Plastic NSU Comtesse from 1959. Last picture shows the production car from 1963. You decide which one is the more attractive car. In my opinion it's the prototype by far.

Quote

In spring 1963, Form in Plastic GmbH, Munich, presented a convertible based on NSU Sport Prinz with plastic body before. The production of the Comtesse should take place at the company, Peter Bauer in Cologne, in cooperation with the German Karl bodyshop.
The company in the form of the Comtesse Plastic intended to be produced in an edition of 500 pieces and for 7950 to offer DM (NSU Sport Prinz cost beginning 6550, in April 1965 only 5135 DM). But only a dozen cars were built.
Planned for the production version had a bold grille and rear fins, but it was only dummy: As with the NSU Prinz was in the back of the engine. The rear of the prototype was drawn with three more conventional single, round taillights per side. The version for the planned series was visually with the prototype does not have much in common, only the windshield was the same. New to the Comtesse, was that the bumpers were also made of plastic and even chrome, with the electroplating of plastic is a complicated process represented. Besides the tires and the fenders was only the windshield frame, chrome-plated trim on the door sills were omitted. Not the style of the time, had been saved at Chromzierrat striking. The unlined the two-seater roadster convertible top could be lowered completely, and for the winter had been an attachable hardtop ready.
The prototype was presented in April 1959 in Neckarsulm in the expectation that NSU would take the countess in their sales program. However, a convertible version of the sport at NSU Prinz was already a done deal. Nuccio Bertone showed a prototype in November 1960 at the Turin Salon. In this model series, but also was not at first - first in the form of an open NSU Wankel Spider sports car came out in the fall 1963. How many Comtesses have survived is not known.
