Not from there.

The base came from BMW and the body from VW. We can recogize the mirror from the T4.

No BMW parts I'm afraid.
This car is a mongrel from many car manufacturers and some VW parts are indeed used to built this van.
The wheels seem a bit far inside the car, but fancy wheels.

I don't know if VW was officially involved.

It's not propelled by an Otto or Diesel engine...
Electric engine ?
BTW, because of the pic quality and the signals and headlights, I assume it's a model from 91 to 96 period
Right time frame and yes, it is electric.
Tranbant?
VW did some elektric engined T4, called VW T4 Elektro Van.
There's even an official brochure of it, with 520 kg of Ni-CD cells in the back of the van.
But I suspect yours to have this special nose done to includ all the engine and cells in front of the vehicle....
Was it produced in Western Germany or in the former DDR ?
It's not the same base as T4 !

Ok no problem ;)
A second pic of this strange van:
Interesting puzzle.
I could have sworn those front lights came from a Fiat Ducato van and the grille looks for all the world like a Lancia...
Actually they took the grille from a Lancia. ;D
There was a second generation too, apparently.
