Know what it is? A point if you do.

This cart might have been "cross-tyrellized" - for a british hill climbing event?

250gto

I don't know a lot of details about this car but I believe it was purpose built and not modified from a kart (even tho it does use some kart parts e.g. the wheels), I'm not certain about this however.
I do know it is definatly built for british hillclimbing.

Go-cart-like vehicle built for British hillclimbs makes one think of Tico Martini. I can't find a photo of his later car, but it could be just like this one!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

250gto has been absent for almost a year - time for the Black Hole?

I realise that 250gto has not been around now for a long time but I've found the answer to this puzzle.
It's Karl Schollar's Spectre Mk 7 with a 998cc engine.
If you need proof just google "Spectre Mk 7" and many different results/photos can be found.

As done before I give woodinsight one point and move this puzzle to the solveds.

Also as said before, pity we don't see 250gto these days as I liked his puzzles (i.e. I often knew the answer!).
