Think it's an Eastern Cochworks body on an AEC (?) chassis - 1953/4?

Otto Puzzell

The AEC part is right (1952, though), but a different firm built the body.

This is a 1951/2 AEC Regal IV with bodywork by Gurney Nutting, much better known of course for their pre-war Rolls-Royce and Bentley bodies.

It is pictured in the livery of Skinners of St Leonards, before they were taken over by Maidstone and District in the mid 1950's.

The bus is registered FDY 246, a series which ran from 1st December 1951 to late January 1952 I believe.

It must have been one of Gurney Nutting's very last bodies of any kind, before they closed their doors for the last time around that time.

Here's a rare colour photo.
Seems to be the same picture as the puzzle photo?!
