Time to give away some points. You know the drill - tell me the name of the car pictured below and you'll be awarded a point :)

Are you sure? I own a LuAZ 969M and this looks exactly like it.
The same factory produced cars under LuMZ name, but those were modified Moskvich and UAZ into refrigerator cars.

Well, you are right in that it looks exactly like a LuAZ ;) But it's called different for a reason. One more day and off we go to experts.

Volin 969 with a Ford engine?

That was already guessed here, not to mention that we've recently had it as a puzzle. This is something else (though not entirely else). I suppose it will get solved the moment I move it to the Experts, which is now :)

I am guessing a Polish Wilk

And you are guessing right :)

Wilk was made 1995/96 by Celma in Cieszyn. It was equipped with a 1.1-litre engine from ZAZ Tavria. The idea was to sell it in big amounts to state services (Police, military, forestry, firefighters etc.) as it was the cheapest car with 4wd available in Poland (3999 USD +taxes). Unfortunately the big orders never came and, due to lack of marketing, the general public didn't buy it either. The result was that the company lost tax and duty exemptions which were available for car manufacturers and assembly companies in Poland (they failed to make 1001 cars a year, which was the requirement) and got into financial problems, which ended their involvement with LuAZ). Most of the cars were sold in Germany.

Unfortunately not. I guess there are some in period magazines, but I don't have any on me right now. From what I remember it looked 98% like LuAZ 1302.

Edit: found some but the quality is poor. They pop up occasionally for sale on polish websites.

Indeed you have to know LuAZ very well to find out what (if anything) has changed, and be sure those are not postmarket modifications... Thanks for the pictures, though. Seen the police car photo long ago, but never knew it was a Wilk - thought it was a LuAZ.
