Those door-handles look awfully familiar!
Don't tell me this is based on a BL car?!

Not BL and not Zagato
Another clue - this was a one-off designed for a particular "competition"
Very well designed and built for a one-off

Sorry for the pointless response, but i'm really surprised that this hasn't been solved yet. I for one have seen this car several times over the years in magazines and online.... Maybe everyone else is having the same trouble I am, that of a total failiure of my memory!  Very, very frustrating! ::)

Whilst i'm here I may as well have a guess.... (edit: Looks like carnut beat me to it!)

Carnut - Nothing to do with GM but you are on to something when you say a design competition.
If you can establish a certain year you might be able to find it.

Barrett - I understand your frustration - I mislay information all the time.
I haven't looked for it on the Internet but you are correct in saying that it has been featured in magazines.

Is the car Vauxhall-based then?

The Cirrus won the British Styling Competition in 1971. It was based on the Ford Escort but was the work of Michael Moore of Chrysler UK. Bodywork was by Woodall Nicholson.

I agree - it looks as though they forgot to finish the front.
Apart from that though - not bad.
