Make, year, who built it and what engine did it use for a point.
Not easy perhaps but I'm sure someone can solve this.

Hay! No fair hiding behind that bale!
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

woodinsight

Unfortunately this was the only photo I have of this particular car.
Perhaps others will come to light after it is solved.

woodinsight

I know - I enjoyed it!
Sometimes I think I'm becoming too serious (about cars!)  :D

Oguerrerob

Is it Mercedes Benz badge on the front?

woodinsight

I don't know what the badge may be on the front but I can assure you it isn't Mercedes

I'd be surprised if this car had a Fibersport body.
It is British (a clue) and although I don't know very much about the car - I can tell you that I know the make, engine and year. What I don't know is whether the builder based it on another car and acquired a shell from one of the numerous body shell producers of the day or built the car entirely from scratch.

woodinsight

This is a difficult one - it's the only image I have ever seen of this car.
However (a big clue) the name has been mentioned in one of my posts on a similar car.

Paul Jaray

Jehu-Riley built by John Horridge?

woodinsight

Not the Jehu.
On a much longer lasting puzzle!

woodinsight

Okay - another clue - the car has a Bristol engine
Please note that the name was mentioned (by me) in another long lasting thread!

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

woodinsight

Yes - Bristol engined

BBS of H.M. Barron?
(and you wrote that BBS may stand for Barron Bristol Special or Sports)

Doesn't mean I've any idea about it - just that I can follow clues!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

woodinsight

Good guess Allan but it's not that one.
Glad to see someone following my clues!

Allan L

As I wrote in that (Lester Bristol) thread this one doesn't look high enough in the bonnet to house a Bristol engine.
The other car you mentioned was John Horridge's Lister Bristol, which this can't be as the Horridge car looked like this when it was Bristol-powered:

However it was said to have been once Riley powered and may have looked more like the Jehu then.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

woodinsight

No - it's not that one.
I mentioned quite a few obscure Bristol engined cars I think this was one of my final thoughts

I stand corrected on this one, the name of this car was suggested by another puzzler in that infamous thread - my apologies

A Chapman? Chapman-Mercury? Looks quite similar!

OK, it's late, and all cats are grey in the night, so my brain possibly told me 'Yeah, Bristol = Mercury!'...

Could it be FMC though?

Allan L

Well I'll try the Warrior-Bristol as there is some similarity - but this one seems not to have the bonnet-top airscoop/carb box of the Warrior (and most Bristol-engined cars).
Opinionated but sometimes wrong
