Okay a few more for you to mull over before the year ends...

First is this strange device - what was it it called and who built/commissioned it (he's the guy sitting on it!) for a point.

woodinsight

I should add I need the base car and engine for the point, thanks

Carnut

Is that Kenny Everett?

woodinsight

Not Kenny Everett but he was a year older and British

Not DLT. This man was a songwriter, lyricist and musician. He is still alive and well today.

Not Acker Bilk
This man is 14 years younger than him

Sorry Carnut but not Noddy Holder.

Time for another clue methinks -
He made his name on BBC's "Nationwide" teatime programme and then on Esther Rantzen's "That's Life" amongst many other appearances.

Richard Stilgoe?

That was just abut to be my next guess after the Esther Rantzen clue!

Richard Stilgoe is correct.

What I still need for the point is what he called it and what it was based on (inc. engine) for the point.

I won't lock it yet as two of you may know the answer.

Amsterdam & Carnut - any further thoughts before I move it to the Pros?

No, haven't been able to find anything on the 'net so let's see if Amsterdam or the Pro's can find anything!

No result here either, so give it to the Pro's

woodinsight

I doubt if there is anything on the web.
The information came from an old magazine.
Thanks for your guesses so far and now moving up......

woodinsight

Most people nowadays would shout 'sacrilege' if they knew what it was based on

I made this guess due to the rims, but I have no clue what it was called or who built it.

All I can ask is if it was based on a Porsche 911...

woodinsight

The man who built it has already be guessed correctly.
He called it by a certain name.

I would imagine it was built in the 1960s and the base car is probably a Porsche 356.
The engine is of a different make.

It will probably prove difficult to find the name but the bodywork was of an unusual material.

Looks like the body is made of wood.

woodinsight

That's right - body was built of plywood
