What is this - make and what the car was based on for a point

Carnut

Is it Lotus Elan-based?

As far as I understand it is based on a Lotus Elan.

Here is a front view -

Correct!
I'm pleased to award you your 50th. point. Congratulations.

Carnut

Do I get half a point for identifying the base as asked for?!

If half points were possible.......
Sometimes I put up puzzles worth two points in some cases but this is really a one pointer  ;)

Yes, it's a good idea as quite often the half-answer helps the eventual solver to come to the correct answer.  The other alternative is of course locks...  Maybe I shouldn't have waited for an answer but got on with the search!  If only time allowed...

No problem, if you can cancel my point. It was not locked. Satisfaction enough for me guess.  ;)

Carnut and Hondast, thank you for your comments.
Sometimes locking the puzzle works but just occasionally it causes a problem.
Two points for a difficult puzzle where there are two distinct elements (eg - chassis & coachwork) can work well and keeps the puzzle of interest to those looking for the extra point.
Anyway points are not everything (I've been stuck on the same number for a while now) - I just enjoy the challenge (when I get the chance!)

Thanks Hondast, but it's not a problem!
I was only making observations, not complaining!
You've earned your point.
