Time for a few more puzzles.....
I wonder who knows this rather smart road-going sports car?
Who built it, nationality and year for a point.
-
Time for an expert opinion
-
It's not a JBM is it?
-

Not a JBM......
-
Kougar?
-
1952 Kieft ??
-
Not Kougar - earlier than that
Not Kieft
More obscure than either of those
-
I wonder if a Pro can solve this?
-
Lenham Austin Healey?
-
Lenham Austin Healey?
Nope - much earlier than that
-
Looks like a British street scene, and the car's right-handed but it really doesn't look familiar which it should if it's British so perhaps it is not.

It is British
As a clue, it is one of three different cars completed by this builder that all carry the same name.
-
Here's another shot of the car - this time at a hill climb
-
Although it doesn't look like either of the two other cars I've seen, could this be a Marsh Special? I believe there were three of those....

Not a Marsh Special but it is a car make that I've featured before in my one of my puzzles. ;)

A long shot: Alta-Jaguar
Built by HW Motors

Similar but not that and much less well known......
-
Those wheels are not ones I remember seeing on anything! Must be a clue there if I can only follow it.
Probably not Jaguar-powered as there are two slight bulges in the bonnet: so is it V-engined?
Perhaps it's not that but Jowett flat-four engined.

This one has an engine that you will know very well Allan!
-
Is that a Gordano?
-
3 cars (1.1cc, 1.5cc,1.7cc), one already featured here...1 powered by a Lea Francis engine...it fits!
-
Is that a Gordano?
No, not that

It's a coincidence!
Not a Gordano but the puzzle car does have a Lea-Francis 1496cc engine and it's post WW II.
-
And it looks like one of those too!
Turner?
-
Not Turner
-
Tojeiro?
-
Tojeiro?
Not Tojeiro
-
How embarrassing that I don't recognise it.
There is some similarity to the Cowell & Watson Lea-Francis specials of about 1947 which looked like this:
-
Similar yes, but not that.
The puzzle car comes from the north of the border.
-
These kind of cars are not in my area of expertise, but I remember an Allard with a grille much like this. Any relationship with Allard?

No Allard connection, sorry
-
The name of this car begins with the letter H.....
Perhaps that might narrow the field somewhat?
-
Is it the infamous Hammond-Gordon Special?
-
Is it the infamous Hammond-Gordon Special?
Not that car, sorry.
This was one of three cars built under this name (all very different)....
-
Is this the third Hopper Special, JGE 300, by Frank Hopper?

Is this the third Hopper Special, JGE 300, by Frank Hopper?
I had Ian Hopper as the name . . . no idea what his Special looked like but as it was based o a 500cc FIII chassis I thought it might have been quite small.
-
Is this the third Hopper Special, JGE 300, by Frank Hopper?
Yes it is, well done.
I intend to do a short article on the cars of Ian Hopper in the future.

Apparently the car was built up from a 'scaled up' JP (Joe Potts) frame into which was inserted a 1496cc Lea Francis engine.
Fuller details on the cars in the near future.

Despite what I wrote above (no idea what the Hopper Spl. looked like) I found some 2007 photos today which I was sent at the time and had completely forgotten about.
Here's one
