Identify this car for one point.
Information required is builder, base car and year.

Allemano

Are you sure this is a new puzzle?

woodinsight

Yes - I know what you're thinking but this car predates it...... ;)

dracu777

Is this the Multiplex special?

Is this the Multiplex special?
Not that.....
It may have been the forerunner of the Multiplex or Allied/Atlas......but this one was a one-off as far as I can tell.

Could be an easy point for a Pro?
I have to say that I have conflicting information on the builder's surname and the model of the base car - let's find out!

Allemano

Could it be that one?

Wendax

1953 Glass Coupe, built by Bill Burke and designed by Roy Kinch, based upon a MG chassis and using a Ford Flathead V8-60

Allemano

I wasn't that sure...

That's the car!
I have read that the designer's name was Finch in a US magazine and that it was based on an MG TC.
I believe the correct name is Kinch and that it was based on an MG TD.
I didn't know it was called the Glass Coupe as I had it as a Kinch Special.
Anyway, yet another point for you, well done.

Intriguing - I've never heard of this car.
Do you know what it was based on and the year it was built?

Here is the news item from Autosport in 1953 -

PM sent.

What let me think it could be this one was the striking similarity of 'those guys' standing next to/behind the car...

Carnut

These guys really made that body themselves?
Sure they didn't use a proprietary body, like Allied Atlas?

Yes, I'm quite sure that both the Kinch car and the Richard's one had Allied bodies (modified to fit different chassis)

Kinch and Burke were principals of Atlas Fiberglass Inc.
Aha - that explains the Atlas/Allied connection.
Thanks Wendax.
