Who built this on what basis and what's it called, for 1 point?

Google Image Search continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Image Search as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

Perhaps based on an MG then?

It looks similar to John Tojeiro's original MG Special but I'm not convinced on that one.....

John Tojeiro wasn't involved in this one!

Okay, perhaps the Jacobs MG Special of 1949?

Nothing to do with Dick Jacobs either!

Back to the drawing board as they say!

This one had me scratching my head for the last couple of hours as it appears the car has changed in appearance since it's racing days in the early 1950s.
I now believe it's one of Lionel Leonard's cars - this one based on an NE MG.
A search on a well-known MG website turned up the fact that it is fitted with a body by Harry Lester.
As my library is packed away at the moment I haven't got an in-period photo of the car at the moment.

Carnut

You've got there!
This car is indeed the Leonard-Lester MG N-Type special; there's plenty about it on the 'Net for those who want to know more.
Well done.
